Jeep wont START Again until the engine cools down

Hi guys,

A buddy of mine called me coz his Xj is behaving badly. He says after cold starting the jeep starts without any problem. However after the engine runs for a while or after driving the jeep should he switch it off he is stuck with a jeep that wont start again until the engine cools down completely.

Whats the problem with that Jeep? I am guessing its one of the sensors (CPS maybe?) but I told him I will check with the xj gurus here and report back to him.

Plz assist a jeeper in distress!!!!

Ed.

You did not state what year it is, but I'm going to say it's the temp sensor for the cooling system. Depending on the year it is either at the back of the head or at the t-stat housing.

Sure enough turns out that the culprit was the temparature sensor. Thx Adam.
