Surco Roof Rack

I purcased this rack after doing quite a bit of research.  This is one of the more popular racks for XJ's.  My rack is 45in. wide and 60 long.  It is made from aluminum but is very sturdy.  I also opted to get the spare tire mount.  I am not sure how big of a tire you could fit on top but I have a 33'' up there and there is more room to spare (no pun intended).  The rack mounts up right to rain gutters on top of the roof.  It does not use the current rack bars that come stock on the XJ.  One of the other good things about this rack is that any mount is made for it, spare tire, hi lift, shovel, lights, axe...

Negatives to this rack, when you buy the rack that is all you get, the rack.  You have to buy the mounts seperate to fit the XJ.  Also anything extra is salty.  I bought the rack for the same price as the mounts to put it on the jeep and the spare tire carrier.  This cost has prevented me from buying mounts for the lights.

Overall it is a great rack, looks good and is functional.  The price is not bad as long you don't dive into all the goodies that you can get.  Some of these can be home brewed quite easily (I have a hi lift mounted to it with u bolts from hardware store).

If we cannot put the name of the site that we got it, sorry admin. just delete this last part.

I bought it from Summit Racing

I purchased this rack for Rebecca for Christmas. She has wanted a rack for quite awhile and after having a very hard time trying to find another ConFer (they are no longer in business, looking for used) like mine I just decided to get her the Surco.

It came very nicely packaged and was very easy to put together with just a screw driver and a wrench. I had it together in less than 15 mines.

Fitment is very nice, quality is very good. Overall for the $$ I am happy with it.

I will say that this is a lower end rack (not saying that in a bad way), but do not plan on putting a lot of weight on it. It'll carry a spare tire, and a high lift but that's about it. If your looking for something to just carry a spare tire, or looking for something simply for looks than this rack will suit your needs just fine. If your looking for something to throw 500-600lbs of camping stuff on it than I'd recomend looking for something else thats a bit stronger.

Overall we're happy with it and it will suit her needs just fine.
