I had no clue what was going on with my blower motor I thought I would have to replace the switch thinking it was bad, well to my surprise a resister was bad , the blower had 4 settings i lost 1 and 2 and then over the weekend i lost 3 then I smelled a burning electric smell and that was the di ode (spelling) so then I did some research and found that a resister was the problem. I had no idea what i was looking for then I called auto zone and the guy told me that it was football shaped so i took pictures of the old resister and then the new one in the location.
On my 96 the 'vaccum powered actuator' (looks kinda like a fuel filter) has this rod that's kindly placed in the way of my resistor... makes it nice and easy to remove and replace. (not)
It has some sort of c-clip thing on the end of the rod, I swear if I try to remove it it'll go ZING! and I'll never find it again.
