Anyone else have a rare XJ?

I am posting this for alex673

I have a 1995 XJ Classic with "Limited" trim and decals - woodgrain dash, leather, power everything, Limited alloys with Classic centre caps, 4.0L HO, AW4 Auto, NP242 Transfer case... The one thing I am surprised at, is that for a '95, it has no high mount brake light. I would have assumed that the said light would have been compulsory by 1995.

I am told there was a Classic Limited model in 1995 and my truck is one of these.

Anyone else have unusual xj's?

Cheers

Alex

I think the COuntry models came with skids and stuff, but supposedly they're 2nd from top (laredo).

Manual windows and locks? Seems they'd be standard, but I'm glad mine are DIY. less electronic crap to go wrong.

But the windows do crank a little crooked.

Looks like you have an export XJ by the right hand drive and the marker lights over the front wheel wells. Another clue is the license plate so you must be in Europe and more likely England. Jeep taylored appearance packages depending on where they were marketing the XJ. It is highly likely that the XJ you have has a package for the European market. There never was a Classic/Limited here in the states. It was either a Classic introduced in 95 or 96 or a Limited which they ended after 92 - or 93. As a matter of fact, in the classic body style before DC ruined the lines of the XJ, the Limited and later Laredo was replaced by the Country here in the US. There may be some rare exceptions.

From the looks of it, Alex is from Australia or New Zealand. Rust probably isn't as big a problem there, as it is here in Michigan.

Yeah these aren't that rare in Aussie as Jeep Australia imported a batch that are spec'd as XL Limited Classic(with decal's/Strips etc). I think from memory, all had open centre Dana35's full leather interior etc......It's real handy as the D35 takes Aussie Lokka & turns them into a good thing..... High level brake lights weren't ADR'd(Australian Design Rules) till late 1996.

Also in Australia, the first of the 97 Update Sports came with Chrysler 8.25 Diff's, tho I have seen them in some 99's but as these are now old & who knows what has been done by owners.

In OZ, Jeep Aus imported batches of Promo Spec'd Up Models @ special drive away prices so optional extras came free on some models ie: 'XJ Sports' with leather(non-elect seat) & CD stackers etc from @$36.990 to $39,990 drive away (including Rego,Stamps etc)....TJ's on special @$29,990 drive away with CD Stacker, sound bar & free A/C etc......

I wish that Jeep Aus had imported the 2dr XJ & the LJ's as I'd have to get me one of eachbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin Every Man needs 3 Jeeps in the shed...We never had the Rubicon TJ's but did get the TJ Golden Eagle with Dana44's Frt/Rear & double locked(these are very rare)

Hi Alex, You have an export model of the Cherokee. We have tons of them in Australia. The first release here was in 1994 and it came as a Cherokee Limited, all the bells and whistles standard.

Cruise, intermittant wipers, leather trim, electric front seats, wood trim, power windows, power door locks, air con, adjustable steering column, fancy mag wheels, cargo cover, delay lights off, roof racks, etc Some items may have been standard for the US market, but many were export only.

Possibly the give away will be the speedo if it is in KPH rather than MPH, you have an export due for or from Australia/NZ.

Attached os a photo of my 1994 version, 265000kms. and the seat gear box problem I have.

The bigest problem I have is the electric seat gearbox. The nylon bearing bolck on both seats is broken and the seats don't move. The 1995 changed the electric seats to 3 motors and a dirct drive method which is great. I don't really know how to fix mine as the '95 seat is different and will not fit. Any one have a couple of good boxes or know where to get them I would welcome the input.

Nice looking vehicle you have though.

Best Regards   Ian

Australia
