New tick in the XJ

Since it has been warm I have driving with the windows down in the XJ.  I have a tick coming from my front end somewhere.  I "think" that it is coming from the driver's side but I don't know that for sure.  If someone comes buy me on the passenger side it sounds like it is coming from over there... So I don't know.

It only does it when moving so I don't think it has anything to do with the engine only the drive train.  It does get faster with speed but once you get over 20 or so it doesn't get any faster.  I checked the u joints and it is not that.  It isn't very loud either.  If you shut the windows you won't here it at all.  Anyone have any suggestions?   I have climbed under and look a couple of times and to the best of my knowledge there isn't anything loose under there.  confuse

I fix all my ticks with the volume knob or just pick the kids up and try not to lose my mind on the way home.;) I had a little clicking noise a while back caused by the little plastic thingys on the frt axle shafts. I talked with Adam about it and he said that if they come lose to (which they do often) to remove or replace them. I replaced them when I changed the frt u-joints. Just a guess, hope this helps. Oh and if I misunderstood Adam sorry. After a few car rides with my kids my brain is MUSH!!!!

put it on 'stands and give the wheels a spin.

I have a squeak squeak that's noticeable at low speeds (maybe Jeep gets a little loud at higher speeds) and it goes away when the brakes are applied. Might be wheel bearings.... they looked original and I put in new pads, discs, and calipers last autumn. (good wagner parts, not generic 'superstop' stuff)

That is a good idea.  It has gone away now, but I will try that and see if I can hear anything with my head up in there.
