POLL: XJ LUBRICANTS

i'm just curious as to what everyone prefers to run in their XJ for lubricants.  engine oil, tranny fluid, trans case fluid, diff, etc.....

i'm not really looking for "it's the best because it's the most expensive", no, i'm looking for what you personally feel is the best bang for the buck to run in your rig.

let me know what you think!!

(btw, if someone has already done this on the forum, link it on here in case i missed it)

thanks!

I personally run Castrol Fully Synthetic through mine with a Mobile 1 filter.  Just have for a long time.  Mobile 1 oil filter is the only way to go in my opinion.  I just wanted to fun Synthetic, and Castrol was the one that I chose.

Oil:
half valvoline regular, half valvoline synthetic. If you buy semi-synthetic it can be as little as 20% synthetic, might as well get my money's worth, right? If you mix it like I do, make sure you stick with the same brand.

I also add a bottle of STP oil treatment (includes zinc somethingorother (ZDDP)) which is a high pressure lubricant. It keeps the cam lobes and lifters alive in our flat tappet Jeep engines. Ditto for old musclecars, small engines, etc. Newer cars use roller lifters and don't need the high pressure lubricant.

Filter: Baldwin, Hastings, Fleetgard (made buy Cummins), and Wix is good so long as it's made in USA (check them. If you can't make cat food right, how can you make an oil filter right?). All of those names are highly respected in the heavy equipment industry, and I can get you part numbers (both 'stock' size and a larger filter (that I use) which fits fine and has room for more oil and filtration capacity).

KN oil filters made by the same guys who make the Mobil1 filters. Purolator is 'ok'. I'd stay away from Fram. I had one fail on me.

As for amsoil and other high end synthetics, I can say that on the 2007 Kawasaki 650r I had (wonderful little bike, docile around town, it was also really fast when needed (wanted) and comfortable- no laying down- for anything under 2 hours) ran smoother and shifted slightly smoother with Amsoil.

It was a subtle difference, but it was noticeable.
