I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee when I bought it I knew I was going to have to replace atleast one side because there was a big hole in it, the other side looked solid from underneath but after I got it home I pulled out the floormat and the entire carpet under the floormat was an orange-brown color so I peeled back the carpet a bit and sure enough it was rusty as hell on the top side and felt weak when I pushed on it so I gave it the screwdriver test and tapped on it with a screwdriver and sure enough it went right through, so I am going to have to replace both sides now and Im hoping the rear section isnt as bad.

I would like to fix this jeep the right way and not just weld in sheet metal to patch it, the problem I am having is I am only able to find floor pans for cherokees up to 1996. Is there really that much of a difference between the earlier cherokees and the 1997-2001 models that the floor pans from a 96 wouldnt work? I have found floor pans through shermanparts.com and discountjeepparts.com and both only have pans for years up to 1996. Can anyone tell me if those pans will work? Thanks alot.
