FINALLY--getting gears/lockers installed!

Dropping my junk off at Extreme Performance in Elletsville/B-town and getting 4.56 gears, front Lockrite and a rear Powertrax No-Slip. My first real opportunity to try them out might be in LBL next month.

I have the high pinion D30 running 297x joints (have spare shafts) and rear 29 spline 8.25.

Cost is a little over $1900. People say lunchbox lockers are an easy install, but I want piece of mind it's installed right when the gears are put in. I've never touched a diff outside fluid changes, so worth it to me.

I get the gears-Dana Spicer up front and equiv quality in back.

Master install kits with bearings front and back

New front carrier

Lockrite up front and Powertrax No slip in back

I couldn't get the junk to them until this Thursday or so, so fingers crossed by Monday evening, I'll be set. I'll keep ya posted.

Let me know how you like those lockers. Havn't ever wheeled with anyone who had either of them so I'm interested in seeing how they work out for ya.

Yeah, can't beat knowing someone. Also, when you buy locally, you got taxes, upcharges on parts. Not like putting together your own list online and finding the lowest prices, etc. Building pc's is like that.

Actually, I bought my gears/install kit from Complete Offroad. $188 to my door.   If it's not too late, I'm sure he'd do yours too.  I'd be more than happy to go talk to him for you if your interested.  He has ran a auto. repair shop for years here in town. I heard a rumor that help was offered for removing your axles.  Take them out, and bring them over here man!  It'd still be cheaper way than $1900. After he was done with the gears, I could walk you through the lunchbox install. Once you see how simple it is, you won't believe it.  I shopped around alot before buying the gears, and Complete Offroad was the cheapest by far. Yukons, Timken install kit.

$188 Front and Back with master install kits F-R?

Even If I bought parts alone on my own online---Powertrax is $400+

                                                         Lockrite is $250+

                                                          New D30 carrier is $60+

Then the price of good gears and the master installs.

I have a run at Turkey Bay middle of February and to get around the hassle of getting it done would probably put that in jeopardy. Thanks for the offer and all but it's already dropped off. There are some things I don't mind paying for if need be since I'm a N00b on such things. Next time perhaps as in if/when I go bigger axle wise. This price is pretty normal for the type of work being done after EXHAUSTIVE reseach on several boards. For what I paid for my rig and whats already been done to it, I'm still way ahead of the game.

Picked up my junk tonight and I love it and I haven't even offroaded it yet! I even got a cheaper price than what was discussed, so that was icing on the cake. Got much of my power back. 3.55 on 35"s is not a death sentence, but windy days on hills sucked. I babied it on the drive home, about 45 min. First time driving a lockered vehicle like that. It feels more "torquey" for lack of a better term. Of course I have the tell tale clicks and bangs, which I kinda like, lol! The Powertrax pops when I back up mainly.  Anyway, happy to have this portion of my long Jeep journey done. Now hoping with ease and finesse and not throttle I can keep my axles alive.

Drove my junk downtown Indy today to my job. Getting used to it. You can feel it back there definitely. Again, enjoying my new found power. First time to try offroading will be in 2 weeks in LBL.
