Well we've tried a few different ones and keep coming back to the orignal one. The problem with my XJ is I don't have the shoulder belt, only the lap belts so that hinders my choices a bit. I use the strap on the seat to anchor it into the rear cargo hooks aswell to make it a bit more safe.

When we went shopping for a new one for the car, I took squirt with me and let her somewhat make the decision. She's going to be the one sitting in it, so I wanted her to be comfortable in it. I let her sit in each one and asked her simple questions to get her opinion. Most kids doing this will just choose the "cool" one, so I asked loaded questions.

I personally prefer the ones that have thier own harness and the factory seatbelts only hold the seat down. I feel it offers more protection as far as keeping them in it, as the belts are designed to hold the child in the seat. Plus the ones that use the seat belts usually are up to high on thier chest/neck and it just makes me uncomfortable. I went with a high dollar one as my daugher's saftey is worth the few extra bucks.

Make sure they will restrain the child/seat in the event of a rollover. But also, make sure that they are easy to get undone in the event of a rollover. It's very important to get out of a vehicle quickly sometimes and too many straps/snaps can be problematic in a case like this, especially if the vehicle is upsidedown.
