What output shaft spline count are you wanting? 87-90 used a 21 spline, than 91 on used a 23 spline.

I may know of something available due to all my AW4 issues...

I have an extra one laying around that came with my Jeep when my buddy sold it to me. Supposedly it was newly rebuilt when it was taken out. The only reason it is not in use is because he switched my xj over to a manual. It is located just north of Columbia City.

I don't know the spline count or anything though.

are you able to count the splines, or are you sure its from an 88 if so ill take the thing off your hands.

I missed the reply on this  Sorry.  I am at the St. Police Academy from Sunday night until Friday night so I won't have a chance to go count them, if you still want it.  I do get off on thursday this week so I can count them on friday if you would like.  Let me know.  Like I said sorry for the slow responce, I missed the reply some how.

Ok... So I went to count the splines on the Transmission about an hour ago and I forgot that the transfercase was still attached.... So I didn't count the splines because I didn't have the time to take it apart. Would you be interested in the Transmission and transfercase as a package? I also have the front drive shaft that goes with it. I guess that I will just post all of it now. I also have both the rear and front axles and the engine. Anyone want any or all of it? Don't know if I want to part with the engine, but the rest is anyone's for the taking. I wrote the model and serial numbers down on the side. Didn't know if it would help or not.
Transmission:
Model number: 30-40LE
Serial number: 878R 61110

Transfer case:
Model Number: 231 AMC
ASSY number: 69530 04 301
Serial Number 421 871
Ratio: 271

I talked to my buddy again about the history on these parts and he said that both the transfer case and transmission had been newly rebuilt so you shouldn't have any problems with them. Hope that this helps. Sorry if it only made things more difficult.hmm You can call me on my cell at 260-403-0244. I'm only available Friday nights through Sunday nights.

if you are just getting rid of the stuff I will certainly take it and pile it with the other extras I have. I think I would be interested in tranny and transfer case together, solves spline issues.Ill call you in a day or so.

Counted the splines on the output shaft of the TC and it is 27 if this changes anything.
