i suppose.. but yeah... it's not so good when your bearing is so bad that when you turn, you can feel your brake pedal pulsating because the wheel is moving all over the place..

so yeah.. i pulled the hub out today.. tried doing it with a 3 arm puller, but that only pulled the hub apart.. lol anyways, after i got it out, i finished taking it apart and got a nice look at what was left of my bearings...

not such a good pic, but i'll try to describe it.. pretty much there's 13 bearings/pieces of bearings there.. some of them broke into quarters, some broke completely in half, some are squished in half, and some are exteeeeeemely deformed.... the oil seal is gone (idk where) and the rubber/plastic bearing retainers were broken, one of them pretty much completely into pieces... it's a wonder the damn thing didnt break apart while i was driving.. this all happened in about a weeks time also... one day i heard a grinding noise while turning right, then a few days later it was loud grinding and squealing... i feel sorry for the poor hub...

in other news, the new hub works GREAT!!!!!

How much do they run? I'm around 192k on my 96 and I'm wondering if they're repackable or disposable or work great till they grind or what.

Pretty much thinking new wheel bearings and ujoints before I get a lift, hopefully to prevent vibes and stuff. I believe it's all (or at least mostly) original ujoints and stuff.

mine worked great till they started going to ****... pretty easy to replace, and i suppose they could be repackable, but in my opinion it's just easier to replace the whole damn thing.. lol it takes less time.. mine were $128 from advance...

all you gotta do is take off the 3 bolts that hold the hub on, take off the axle nut, take off the caliper (2 bolts) the disk slides right off, then pull the hub (a 3 arm puller and/or a nice sized chisel work good.. mine were pretty tight in there) then i cleaned out the area the hub sits in, put a little bearing grease on the splines, slid the new one in, and put everything back together... took me about an hour to an hour and a half, but i accidentally put the dust shield on wrong so i had to take the crap back apart.. lol
