Seat Interchange

Hello everyone, I want to replace my seats, at least in the front. What models will fit our XJ's ? Will a Grand Cherokee fit ? Will the passenger seat swap out with the drivers side? I find my drivers seat killing my back after a short drive. A longer ride would put me in traction. I'm sure some out there have played seat swap a million times. Clue me in.

head to www.naxja.org and search WJ seat swap or something similar, i believe a bracket has to be fitted, but nothing outrageous. WJ and ZJ seats fit, but i think WJ seats are more commonly found leather

I know the ZJ seats fit using your XJ brkts. I do not know if any mods need to be done.

This swap was mentioned in JP mag a while back. Last year sometime

I did a seat swap on my old XJ.  It was a 88' and I think that the one we grabbed out the seat from was a 91(?), It was def. early 90 sometime.  Lead told me what years will interchange, so feel free to chime in.

Well, after half the day yesterday in a couple of junk yards, I find it looks like 95' is the breaking point of the XJ for seat mounting style. Around 94 and older use a pedestal style mount, flat on the floor. Newer uses the front mount on the body member and the rear flat on the floor. Dosen't look to be interchangable with out some mods. I did find it promising that there were a lot of the XJ parts availible in the 4 yards I went to. Each had 5-10 XJ's most with drive train still in the vehicle.  Mine XJ is a 96.

It's always good to know that there are parts close by.
