Dirty Radiator Fluid

So I changed the thermastat in my Xj today.  I noticed that the fluid was really dark.  So I drained as much as I could and filled with fresh.  I got almost a gallon of fluid in it.  The fluid was horrible looking.  Is this something I should be concerned about or should I change it after a while again and leave it at that?

What i did and to all of mine. Get rad flush from Napa, run and drain. They also have a outlet that goes into the heater hose, hook up water hose and flush system out, back and forth. Works good for me and improves hearter put out. I also take thermastat out and flush block.
I don't like using air, have blowen heater core and the rad tank. I don't use air anymore. the service guys here don't use it much at all. Samething has happened to them.

Or spend $60 more and just get a new CSF 3-core thats brand new.

Personally I wouldn't spend the $$ to have the rad. flushed when for a bit more you can just get a new (read better) 3-core.

I wouldn't do anything right away. Most likely the smuck who owned the Jeep prior does not know anything about coolant and used tap water (you should used distilled) and now coolant at all (you should mix 50/50).

I've ran them in all our Jeeps and love them. If you search under "ulitmate cooling upgrade" (or something like that) you can see my write-up about switching from a closed loop to an open loop system and I've got pics of the CSF rad in that post.

So I guess I lied, they are a tad more than $60 more.... non-the less a good investment as I've had to deal with the broken plastic end caps and it's NOT fun!

You can see them here.
