Welding or bolting rock sliders

Well i am getting ready to put on my rock sliders and just had one little question to ask. How do you guys prefer to mount them onto your xj? Do you weld them or bolt them on? I think welding them on would make them a bit stronger but didn't know what you all think. Give me some of your opinions on this.

Thanks,
Ben

i had mine bolted on with self tappers, but when i added frame stiffeners i got them welded. I noticed that there is a lot less play in the rails with them welded. i do have them bolted to the pich seam. I have had no problems with them being welded up.

Yes welding will make them stronger, HOWEVER once they are welded they are there, you'll have to modify them if you ever want to take them off (since you had to cut them).

Mine are bolted and I have not had an issue yet with them. I'll probally never weld them as I tend to be one who changes things on my XJ quite often and I dont' want to be restricted by a set of welded on rock-rails.

i agree with Adam.

while welding them will definatly be stronger, you have more options if you bolt them. i have mine bolted on.

Mine were bolted up and I think that it was strong enough.  Unless you really want them welded on I wouldn't just because you never know what is going happen and come up, which you might want to take them off.

Ya i know that it would be easier to do by bolting them on. To me it doesn't matter how really if i weld or bolt them on. I have only got $60 in them so it wouldn't be a big loss if i got rid of the rig. Plus AJ's didn't come thru on getting me my bolts so i figured i would just weld them since i can't find any place local that has the bolts. Thanks all for the help.
