What would you do? 90 xj 4.0 Junk Yard fine

Back ground. Talked to tow trk driver picked up 2 lane road. Must of had cooling problem, found 4 mike jugs water, froze and empty in vehicle. Engine rolled over slow, Water in engine froze, brought into shop to unfreeze motor. Water in oil, dip stick. Tryed to start, back fire through throttle body. Pulled spark pugs all look pretty darn good. Ran compression check, 1=140,2=150,3=150,4=140,5=155,6=0. Didn't run wet compression check, maybe should have? Drained oil, full oil pan of clear water, emptied, than good haft a pan of oil and water. Thats where I'm at now. What would you do from here?
No! I'm not taking it back. " Don't junk it restore it "
Give me some ideas on the cheapest way to go.
Thanks for helping out and will keep you posted.

If time is not an issue. Pull it apart and rebuild it. Could be as simple as timing
chain.

Opps didnt see 6=0 thats not good I agree with bullyjeep

I would pull the head check for bad head gasket on #6. If not sounds like a cracked block in #6 cylinder. If it is cracked find a new block you can usually find them fairly cheap on the off road forums. It looks like it is definitly worth the time and $ to put itno it. Looks pretty clean.

Me if time is not a factor, pull the motor and Build a stroker.. No pressure I'm saying more like cracked head(and yes a 4.0 can crack a head seen it) If it was just a bad head gasket he'd still read some pressure.. Stroke it..

Pulled engine out of my 88 trail rig and will scrap what I don't want. Will put engine in 90xj. Spent all weekend pulling engines. Have about 6hrs apiece pulling engines. I no thats the easy part, now to put back in when everything gets cleaned up to reinstall.
If you have any ideas on what to look for or do installing 88 4.0 auto into a 90 auto, please let me no.

Gar,

If your going from a '88 to '90 everything should be just a bolt in/plug in application. Both are auto's so the flex plate should be the same. Both motor's are Renix motor's so the wiring should all be the same. Nothing crazy should have to be done to do the swap. All the sensors should also be the same.

I'll move this to tech since the discussion has become more tehnical than "off-topic".

Up date---motor out of 89 in 90 junk yard fine. Scraped 89 body 160.00. Took and saved all good parts.--- Need help--- don't have dash, tail and park lites, fuse blows all the time. Problem before motor was put in, found old fuses in vehicle from junk yard. Disconnect frt lite wiring from header panel still blows fuse. Put used head lite switch in, still blows fuse. Going to disconnect rear lite wiring and see what happens, has trailer wiring. Working on rig.
Any help--no nothing about wiring.
# 2 ------engine running rich-------- Wiring has to be fixed first!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Gar, any update?  What is the progress?   I know that you have been working on this.  Just wondering how it is going?

Man that looks really good, I like the color combo with the tires.  How big of a lift is that?  Loooks 10x's better then it did when you got it.

Edges of rims were bad rust and wheel weights, so blended in some sliver paint to get by with. Don't think it looks bad, sets off wheels with color of rig. Will sandblast wheels and paint and clear down road. Cheap Gar. Sand tires on. Work good for Sliver Lake.  Put Pro Comp 3" Lift on. Still have alot to do.
