steering column question

i'm trying to replace my directional switch, and have run into a problem... i dont know how to get the plastic cover off of the steering column (the one that goes from about the end of the dash up to the key release switch) so that i can run the wires through... anyone have any advice on getting it off?

if you are referring to the cover between the steering wheel and the dash, there are 2 separate covers. the one on top and the other below. the 2 covers are secured together by 3 torx screws from the bottom. 2 of the screws are deep inside the holes on both sides of the cover at the bottom. you will need a long thin torx screwdriver to reach those 2. the third screw (also torx) is easly removable as it on the surface. Once you unfasten the 3 screws the covers will easly come off.

mine doesnt look like it has anything like that holding it on though... unless it's held on by something farther inside than the directional switch, but it almost looks like it should just slide backwards farther down the column... lol i dont know...
