Save the "Hammer" trails!

Well, just in case you guys and girls here don't know, see my signature and help the cause.  Sure it's ~2500 miles away, but if they take a little, they're only going to ask to take more of our (legal) four wheeling lands away.  Then if we want to go Jeepin, it's private land, mall crawling, or flat out illegal stuff no.gif

If the USMC at 29 Palms needs this land to provide more beneficial training, and the additional combat experience gained from this training enables just one Marine to survive his tour in the sandpile, then this is a no brainer. The off-road community can suck it up and find another place to play.

Eminent domain is a mother effer. There's nothing you can do about it. The government takes what it wants and pays fair market value for it. It doesn't mean they are going after off-roading. It's like the farmer who owns land where they want to put a highway. Nothing can be done as long as they follow the legal guidelines.

It sucks for those who wheel there, but is no danger to off-roading as a whole.

AMEN , Adam

Ya it a bummer, but if its needed for a greater cause so be it. Besides, Peatersons wrote about this last year in April sometime. So any effort has already been made to "save this trail" and keep it open.

Well I copy/pasted most of that from another forum but it was 120% with how I feel.

And yes I'm VERY involved in promoting legal wheeling and protecting our wheeling locations. However enabling someone to be more safe (or live for that matter) who serves our country in my opinion is for more important that a weekend of "fun" wheeling.

True, true.  Saying "I support the troops" (which I do, and I also support the war) would be lying without letting them have what they need, and if they need it, they should get the best of whatever we have to help them survive and accomplish their missions in the battlefield.smile  I never thought of it that way, just from the perspective of yet another trail closure, as if enough haven't been closed already.cry

The army base in GA that Nick was at was HUGE.  I think that we drove for 30 min. at 55-65mph just to get to gate, that was not to the other side, that was somewhere in the middle.  We were on the only paved road to.  I kept seeing all these dirt trails that they used for roads and kept thinking to myself man it would be fun to have an XJ right now!

Driving out in the country and finding old dirt roads are funidea, even if they do lack any obstacles beyond washboard road surfaces and the occasional stick/tree branch in the roadyawn.  Good for photo ops, too.smile
