that'd be really neat... I do believe that propane has a higher octane rating, and can run at a higher compression ratio than the cheapie gas that 2.8s (in stock form) happily drink.

oh... it's a 2.5L (basically a 4.0 minus two cylinders with a different bore/stroke I think...) but in my Chiltons wagoneer/comanche/cherokee manual (book 40602, it has a red ZJ on the front if you want to find one for yourself; much better than haynes manuals fyi)
Here's what it says... carter YFA for the 2.5L and a Rochester 2se or a E2se for the GM 2.8v6
as for the carter carbs... as for factory (running gasoline) settings, it goes float level is .6 inches, choke valve clearance is .240 inches, fast idle cam setting index is .175 inches, fast idle speed 2300rpm.
