I've decided to go with a front driveshaft from Tom Woods. It will be a multiple double cardan joint shaft. It should solve the lingering vibration problem I'm having trying to set the caster angle and pinion angle. I can't seem to get a workable compromise. I should have it next week sometime.
I weighed the two options of going with a HP axle, and the costs involved in building one up. I see no reason to buy one, and not rebuilding it. New ball joints, changing the gearing if I couldn't find one with 3.55 gears, etc... The driveshaft seems to be the way to go IMO. An added plus is IF it dosen't "work", Tom Woods will take it back AND refund my money.
If anyone is interested, I'll take some pictures while installing it, and post them up.
No big deal, just let me know. Hope everything works out for ya. Just out of curiousity why a Tom Woods? It is my understanding that they are pricey. Why not just have one of equal quality made from someone in Indy?

I received the new DS from Tom Woods today. It's a beefy sucker! In order to keep my warranty with the dealer that rebuilt the diff, I'm having them mount up the new flange that replaces the pinion yoke. I take it to them on Thursday, they said it would take about 1/2 hour. I'll take some before and after pic's and post them up
Andy, I'm sorry I haven't got back to you about the post about the axle. I apologize. I'm still kicking around about going ahead and buying your axle, and if the DS cures the problem just taking my time and rebuilding the axle. I'm sure the DS would work with a HP axle also. If someone else is interested in it, sell it, I don't want to hold you up as it might be awhile before I could buy it.
As far as going with Tom Woods, the fact that IF it does NOT work they will take it back was a BIG plus. Patterson's here in Indy would have built me one, but he admitted he had never built a DS like that before. He said he had kicked the idea around though. I didn't really want to be a guinie pig on his first one. Plus if it didn't work, I was stuck with it.
Again, I apologize for taking so much time reposting here.
Hey you take your time with the axle, I am not concerned at all about it. I will keep it for ya. I didn't have anyone else waiting for it, I was just curious as to if it was still an option or not.
I hope that things work out for ya with that driveshaft. I think you deserve things to start working properly, you have waited long enough for them to start working.
