I'm having problems with my 2001 Cherokee dana 30 front axle. It's got an ECTED Electric Locker, 4.10 gears and Warn locking hubs.
After my last three wheeling trips the driver's side wheel bearings were VERY loose. With the hubs locked when I make a turn in either direction there is a popping noise from the front end. It happens in 4WD, 2WD, ECTED locker locked or not. As the day of wheeling progresses the noise becomes louder and more frequent. I'm presuming the noise is louder and it happens more frequently as the bearings become more loose.
I had my brother watch the front end while driving a slow figure-eight in a gravel parking lot after wheeling and the driver's side wheel jerks when the pop happens.
I believe the driver's side axle is somehow under a lateral load and then releases causing a "hammer" effect on the axle shaft and destroying the bearings. I have no other experience with a locker and have no idea what may be causing this. I have managed to destroy two sets of wheel bearns though.
