xj Brush guard / Floor Rot

Hi,

I have a few questions, first off i have a 98 xj with some floor rot on the drivers side floor pan,  i'm thinking about having it fixed but i also need to fix the water leak that i think is coming through the door.  has anyone had this type of repair done and how long did it last for you?.  Also, i think the water is specifically coming though the waterdam, does anyone know what kind of glue is used to attach that and how would i clean it off or is it easier to just replace the waterdam.

Also, for the 98 i have the mopar brush guard (82203340) and having looked up the part it looks like it was from 97-01, does anyone know if this would fit a 96 xj country?  i know off the bat that i would have to figure something out for the bumper mounted fog lights but i was thinking of selling the 98 xj and i would hate to give up the guard and would rather put it on my moms 96.

If i did end up selling the xj i was looking at the 08 kj, its no xj but does anyone have comments on that model?

Sorry for the long winded post, i have a lot of things to figure out with my current dilemma and any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Scott

For the floor rot, here is a topic that is on going right that shows the different steps of fixing the floor.

In regards to the KJ you mean the new Liberty right?  Or did you mean JK? The new Rubi's.

I am not a fan of the new Liberty's.  But I don't like new SUV's in general.  If I were to get one I guess it would have to be the Liberty, so I guess the it is best in the class in my mind.

If you were talking about the 4dr JK, I love that thing.  I would not sell the XJ, but if something were to happen to it I would seriously contemplate buying a 4dr Wrangler.  I have already told the wife that she has to test drive on when her Rav4 is on it's way out.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks aci4369! i wish i found this forum sooner.  Yes i was looking at the 08 liberty, i dont like the other libertys because of body style and also the spare tire on the back.  yes lead not follow, that is the one i have, except i dont have the fog lights (i attached a pic to this post)

With the brush gaurd, if it is not to hard to take off, and you have the other XJ there, just take it off and see if it is going to fit.  I would think that it would fit from looking at the pic that LeadNotFollow posted, but you might have to make some bracketry if the other XJ doesn't have it.

It is my understanding that the factory MOPAR guard uses the factory tow hooks to mount. So you're going to need those. I than "think" that it uses a few support brackets that attach it to the bumper itself towards the top.

I'm 99% sure I've seen them on older XJ's; so it should fit without issues.

If you decide not to mount I would be interested in buying your brush guard. I have wanted to pick one of these up for a while. Thanks.

Hey,  sorry for the late response, I ended up not pulling it off only because my mom decided that she didn't think she would like the look of it (she has a white xj country), plus i didn't keep the trim so i would have not have had anything to put back to fill in.
