Like the title states I have picked up a nice click from the front driver's side tire. I have replaced the U-joints recently and checked the U-joint yesterday and don't think that is my problem. It makes a click with every rotation of the tire.
Adam if you remember the hub was taken off with a BFH. So is this my bearings(SP?) going out? I don't know what it would sound like but I think that is my problem. How hard are they to fix? Is it something I can drive on for a LITTLE while, I am moving into the new house this weekend and would like to drive the Jeep to move stuff. Only about 5 miles round trip maybe. I will be tackling this problem as soon as we get moved in.
I think that the wife would kill me if I spent the day working on the XJ instead of moving into the house... haha

I went out and looked at this real good today and cannot find anything obvious. I will say that the click sounds like something is not fastened. Like something is loose. Anyone have any thoughts? Does this seem like a bad bearing to those of you that have had that problem?

1) Bad wheel bearing. 2) Unseated brake pad that needs replaced. 3) Warped brake rotor. 4) The stupid plastic peice that goes over the shaft rubbing on the axle tube.
I'd take the tire off, rotate the rotor (hub) and see if you can pinpoint the noise a bit more.
As far as driving it you should be ok for a bit. Unless it's SCREAMING you'll be ok.
One other thing that I have noticed is that if I turn right, it will make no noise. If I am going straight or turning left it will still click. So I don't know if the outside tire having more weight in a right turn is preventing what ever is making the noise from shifting or what???

When the hub goes out doesn't it have a clicking sound to it? Had this same problem on one of my old dodge rams and it turned out that the hub was shot.
