I need to find a rear bumper with a 2" receiver and two tow point tabs for shackles.
I'm trying to find a good bumper for a budget price. I'm moving from Ohio to Texas and need to tow my Cavalier and I want to be able to give someone a pull if they need it...just not when I'm pulling the Cavalier
They are a supporting vendor here and they have some really nice looking/decently priced rear bumpers. Well, they have the same in front bumpers too! I am running one of their fronts. I know they have a matching rear. I am not sure of its towing capacity though.

Good luck!!!
Have not tried them. Tried JCR, Nates, and several others, but not motionoffroad. I'll give them a look.
Uh, yeah! MotionOffroad will more than likely be cheaper than those places. If you have questions about a product OR if you don't see a product, but would like it, call them.
Just a FYI; 99% of bumpers with a hitch receiver are NOT rated for towing. Pulling a light small sized trailer (utility) it can probally get away with, but I would not use it to pull a car. 99% of aftermarket bumper manufactures state it's not to be used for towing.
Get a class III rear hitch that's rated to tow, they are cheaper than bumpers anways. You'll be better off in the long run; especially if your towing a car...

This is correct. I am not aware of a bumper on the market for the XJ that is rated by the manufacture to towing specs.

Thanks for the heads up. So, even though these bumpers (the kind I would get) tie in to the unibody and they are usually at least 3/16 steel, they aren't rated for towing? I thought they were rated for recovery, and that has to be more stress than towing I would think.
I am aware that hidden hitch type hitches are cheaper than a recovery bumper, but I thought since both had the receiver I'd check on getting the bumper.
Well, I am not an expert, but I would think that there would be a difference in recovery vs. towing.
If you are towing a vehicle it is for a farther distance. Also, it is "dead weight". In other words, the towed vehicle isn't giving any power, it is simply being pulled.
When you are recovering a vehicle it is a very quick and short distance. And normally the vehicle that you are pulling out is applying power too.
Like I said, I am not an expert on the subject, but those are my thoughts on what would create a difference.
i could be wrong but i thought that they said that bumpers with hitches on them aren't rated for towing for insurance purposes only. that they can tow anything your Xj can and be reliable. i was just thinking that if you get a good bumper with all the proper tie ins and nutserts it will be just as strong as a class III hitch. but then again thats just what i heard...correct me if im wrong
