When I'm turning left I hear what sounds like a metallic rubbing sound from the left front. About a year ago I had the XJ off the ground and the ujoints were not exactly 'tight' so I'm wondering if it's the front left ujoint going out. (meanwhile I'll replace the right ujoint). Am I right? Or 'maybe right'?
Oh yea, it gets louder and more apparent the tighter the turning radius gets. Turning right I don't hear any 'rubbing' noise, and I checked and tires clear (stock shoes with 2" lift)
Thanks, Matt

Wether it's the bearings (sounds about right since it doesn't go clunk clunk clunk, although it did last winter, then the clunking went away) or ujoints, it's probably smartest to replace everything (ujoints, bearings) while I'm at it, right? Assuming I'll have to pull the axleshafts out, I might as well get a limited slip/elocker (maybe, but this is getting expensive now) for up front too.

you won't have to pull a ton off to get to the fronts it is actually pretty easy to get to. Also if your U Joint is bad you can probably move the two pieces if you grab on each side of the joint. There is a write up on here someplace I think Aci wrote it if I remember right. Pretty simple and straightforward repair.
