Well before winter hits one thing I'd like to do before anything else is get the whole underside of the XJ lined with an undercoating of some sort whether it be POR 15 or truck bed lining.
I don't know if I should bring it somewhere or do it myself. I don't really have a way to get it off the ground to get under it and coat the bottom (planned on using an undercoating gun if I did it myself, btw) and that's why I was thinking I should bring it somewhere... I just don't know where.
I could look on the sites and see where the nearest place is I could get it done...
ZIEBART 116 NORTH CHRISTMAN STREET SPRING LAKE, MI 49456 Phone:616-846-4520 Fax:616-847-6813
Here is their website. My dad has done Ziebart to his truck bed and it has not flaked or anything. I think that has been 4-5 years. And the truck gets used to haul wood and what ever else.
i went to the local painters supply store and picked up a bunch of heavy duty spray on undercoating. I did it myself, when it was stock, so it was kind of tight underneath. I wire-wheeled and ground all the rust away before hand. I spent about 4 hours just grinding away. Then i went to town spraying. Make sure you have some sort of eye protection on and you are wearing crap clothes cause its gonna get on you. Also make sure your work area is well ventilated.
I would do it myself to save money, but thats my $.02
the worst part was doing the underneath of the bed. I would do it when it cools down cause you are gonna want to wear long sleeves and pants and a hat. Luckily i didnt get a whole lot of it on me.
oh, and i did this 2 years ago and it still looks great.
buy a winterbeater, and use the Jeep only when it's blizzardy out :), and after the plows go through and the ditch parties are over, put the winterbeater back into service soaking up the salt. Remember to wash the salt off the Jeep before putting it away again.

Doesn't that take all the fun out of winter driving then? What if I see a trail I want to hit but can't because I'm in my winter beater lol. Such is why I'm interested in getting it lined.
Just make sure whoever you go to covers up key items (exhaust, tranny, t-case, motor, shocks, etc. etc) before they spray it. Some of the cheaper places do not do this (that is why they are cheaper) and it will cause issues down the road. Just check to make sure that they'll cover those items prior to spending the money.

Yep, that's something I'll have to ask about when I get my cash saved up. First I gotta get a new battery before anything else before it kills my alternator.
The Ziebarts around here are known for the quality job that they do. They did a good job on my Dad's truck, but that is obviously not the same one that you are going to.

I miss the days that they made toys that could kill a kid.

take note of the trail and go back with XJ. As usual, remove salt before storage.
