T.D.J. That Damn Jeep

Ok time to start on that damn jeep. I plan on lifting the front with 2 1/2" spring spacers. The rear will get 2" AAL's. Anything else I should pay attention to, or might need to address?

You should be alright with the brake lines that you have.  I put a 3" lift on old XJ and didn't have to extend the break lines.

Do home brew front discos.  Only cost $10.

I was going to do a write up on it when I did mine, but I bought a new swaybar and it would be all different so I didn't do the write up.  This is the one that I was referencing though.

2.5" of coil spring spacers is really pushing the limits. Flex the front at all and you'll probally drop a coil. We recomend no more than 2" of coil spacers. Your better off just going to 3" and using a new set of coils.

Lifting the rear less than the front (especially with an AAL) will most likely make it look funny as well. AAL's don't last forever (they sag), and starting out with less lift than the front will just make it look "weird" sooner.

Here are 2 3" lifts that are actual 3" for a good price. The 2nd one includes new shocks.

And if your only wanting 2" here is a 2" lift (spacers upfront).

Thing is the rear sits 1" higher then the front. I already have the 2.5" spacers for the front. I could cut them down to 2". Even with the boat or the pop-up on the back it is still 1/2' high. I was thinking this would level it out. I am just wanting to fit 30" under it for now. Come tax time I will be able to do the 4.5' lift I want.

You do realize that the measurements from the front and the rear are not the same correct? The fender-wells are different, thus making the measurements different.

Right I put a level on the rockers (between the front and rear wheels) and that is how i did it. We then jacked up the front to level (also made it look level) and it was a 1" differance. Is this right way to do it? I just dont like it to look like a hotrod in the rear. Like the level look much better. 1/2" high would be ok as the boat or camper are hooked up most times in summer.

That is not the correct way to do it.

On the XJ measure from the tip of the front flare to the ground. It should be 17.5". Than measure from the tip of the rear flear to the ground. It should be 17".

Any measurement above or below that is lift height or sagging that you've gained.
