I need to pull the head off my 4.0L. Having a Renix I want to upgrade. I have a few questions, 1. Will my Renix intake bolt up to a HO head? 2. do I get a junkyard HO head & get it rebuilt, if so what years are the best? 3. or do I by a brand new head? or reman?

If you swap to a HO head you'll need to swap everything associated with the head over. So NO, your TB will not bolt up. You'll also have to swap over a HO exhaust manifold as well.
My XJ has a Renix block with a HO head on it, so if you want to go that route give me a call and I can help ya out a bit...
I've never done this, but from what I can gather from my online research...
I'd go for HO head, intake, and throttle body. From an ixquick search it doesn't look too difficult, it'd take a weekend though to get all of the little things done (get a 1995 or earlier and you won't have to drill/tap the head for a temp gauge sender) unless you're really ambitious.

Also if you really want some down low grunt get the Mopar adjustable timing chain set. Set it at 4 degrees advanced. This will bring your powerband down about 1000 rpm over stock. My gas milage actually went up because it was in the powerband at 2000 rpm and that is my freeway rpm.

1. I haven't seen you post here before. Welcome to GLXJ, or long time no see, depending on when you signed up for glxj.
2. I'll have to look into this, as my XJ rarely sees more than 3500-4000rpm (normally the autobox shifts around 2000-2250rpm). Does it upset the OBD2 computer?

I decided to port & polish a Renix head, & add a header. this seemed to be the simplest fix, for a DD. I will keep every one posted on this possibley some port/polish pics.

If you get another DD the HO head may be worth looking into. The intake flows better, the raised exhaust ports provide less restriction (and requiring a new exhaust header/manifold) and there's a lot of writeups online, so armed with those, you should be okay.

OKay so what I got out of this post is : - I have a 96 XJ and I go and a buy 99 H.O. head, fuel injector rail, intake, header, TB, I go and get it machined revalved and all I need is pushrods, ARP bolts, and everything will bolt back together with no problems except for a lean problem which can be fixed by a fuel pump, nothing with the computer, or fuel filter?
