Howdy, and a tire question from the new guy.

Howdy all, I've been kickin around on NAXJA for a while and lately in my opinion people there have become more concerned about reposts and correct postings than they are with helping. So...I wandered over here...not to say that I don't like NAXJA. Anywho, just wanted to say howdy. Here's a pic of my Jeep as it currently sits.

Anyways sorry for babbling and on to my question. My BFG A/T's are approaching time for replacement. All in all I was pretty satisfied with them. I'm not a huge fan of the mud but do enjoy the occasional fire trail/trip to mounds. I spend most of my time at the sand dunes and using my XJ as my daily driver. I am torn between the A/Ts or the new KM2's. What are people's thoughts on these for a daily driver? I hear lots of good things about the KM2's but am unsure if they will wear a lot worse than the A/T's.

Thanks

I know a lot of the people on here run the Maxxis Bighorns (Maxxis calls them an A/T but they look more like an M/T) and they all love them. They get good all around reviews as well.

They can be found here: Click

I am one of the people on here that run the Bighorns.  They are great.  I don't know if you have looked into them but they are worth a thought.  I will say though that I have not used them in the sand so do some research before we change your mind.

I have never seen the KM2's in action so I don't know how they will do with wear on the road.   How many miles have you gotten on the A/T's?   I do know that people get a TON of miles on them, A/T's.   Also, I don't know if you have thought about this, but aren't KM2's only coming in certain sizes?   SO you might have to get new rims as well to run them (don't know for sure).

On a side note welcome to the forum!!! Glad to see that you made your way over here.   Nice looking XJ.

KM2 have not been out in teh 15" rim size for very long. I don't think people who've bought them have had enough time yet to give any real advice on actual tire life.

I'm one of those who went from the BFG MT KM to the Maxxis Bighorn and havn't looked back. Best tire I've ran to date.

My bfg Ats have approx 40,000 on them from my jeep alone and were on my old work truck for two years before that. BFG ats rock in the all round (but mud) catagorys. However I also have looked at the KM2s but have made the decision on getting bighorns insted. Seems they have the best pricing and do last a good amount of time. A guy in my neighborhood has had them on his landscaping truck for about two years now and they still look to have more than half of the tread on them.

Welcome to GLXJ, and I like the stance of your XJ... you should consider sending it in for the calendar every year... funds go to charity so it's for a good cause too.
