Diamond plate may be redneck but......

I like it. Here are some pictures of my homemade rock sliders which are clad in a diamond plate skin. The rock bars are made from square tubing and welded to the frame.(non body guys and non welders do not chine in about it being bad to weld to the unibody I have welded to unibody many times in the past with no problems. You have to know what you are doing and know how to do it right.) I used the rear leaf spring pocket to anchor my rear brace and the front was welded to a spot on the frame that had a double wall so it is double strong. I was going to do a bolt on but that would have taken days to figure out plus you run the risk of riping a bolt thru a hole easier than riping a weld out.  My company throws out a ton of diamond plate as scrap when its scratched ect so I just found some in the right length, sheared it and bent it to fit. Its held in place with four screws on top and four on the side. It just has to hold it in place. I ended up heating up the ends and peaning it over giving it a wrap around.

Nope. The rockers are still there. Just wanted to help protect them in case of a stray rock covered by grass or moss. As for the polishing part...it has a layer of clear powder coat (my company orders it special that way) so I am hoping not to have to do much by the way of keping it shinny. Beside I am sure after a few rough trails it will have many scratches and gouges as this is inevitible on the trail.

Thanks for all the compliments too!
