Please dont exclude me because i'm working on a YJ for my daughter. The problem i'm having is a no fire problem. Does anyone know where to find wiring schematics so i can track down a problem?
Any help would be nice, When i bought this jeep the engine cranks over btu does not have spark, The fuel pump does not run. If i knew how to bypass the relay to make the fuel pump run, i'd try that.
try a crank position sensor located on the driverside of the bellhousing, has 2 11mm bolts and a 3 wire plug that runs up the to the fuel rail side, should be $76.00 or such if its a 4.0, if its a 2.5 I dont know if that has one

don't worry about having a YJ on here, the forum founder on here rolls a wrangler and has a build thread on it here. Any way-I have not has many tech issues with mine yet but on a 95 is it old enough to have a ignition module and an actual distrib. Mines a 2000 4.0L so I know mine but not sure on the older Jeeps. Crank sensor is definately the first to check out.

nab one off a 4.0 at the boneyard that's been in a collision or rolled. This way you know the sensor is good (some people are dumb and sentence their Jeeps to death from a failed sensor).
If it works, great. Buy a new one as a spare or switch them out and carry the used one as a spare (and tools to switch it out). This way if it fails on you away from home (as it did me) you can fix it.

I highly doubt it's the CPS. If the fuel pump does not turn on than it's something other than the CPS. The CPS only controls spark, not if the fuel pump runs or not.
Their are 3 identical relays in the 4 banger YJ that sit directly infront of the battery (4 if you have AC) One of them controls the horn (and maybe even the wipers). If your horn works yank that relay out and put it in the fuel pump relay spot.
Also it is not uncommon for the terminals at the relay to go bad. Pull the relay and check to see how they look.
Being you have no spark and the fuel pump does not turn on I'm going to say it's most likely the relay or the wiring around the relay. If swapping in a good relay does not work check to see if you have power to any of the 4 terminals at the relay location while cranking. If not then I'd say the ECU may be shot.

I have replaced many a ingition coil on older YJ's before. Napa can test them. Check for power on one side with ignition on and test light clamped to negagtive side of battery. Then switch your test light to the other side of the coil connector and check for a blink(while cranking) with the light clamped on the pos side of the battery. The coil is fired on the negative side of the coil and there is power all the time when the ignition is on. BTW there is no CPS on a 95 YJ. It uses the distributor to determine when to fire. Since there were no YJ's built in 96 yours could not be a late build 95 (and have OBDII which does have a CPS) so unless you have a 97 and newer set up your Jeep has most of the "old reliable" set up that has been around for years. PM me if you need more info.
I had a 94 YJ 4.0 and I am pretty sure all I had was a pick up in the distributor. Mine was an automatic trans but I doubt that matered much. My 93 XJ has the same set up no CPS. They could have drasticaly changed things in 1995 but I never saw a CPS on a YJ 4.0 until 1997. (ZJ's had them way back in 1993)
I just looked at my 93 XJ and I stand corrected. I never noticed it way back on the driver side up high against the bell housing. I always thought that the distributor was the crank trigger and that is why you could not adjust it like in most other cars of day.
Off topic here Jeff, but I like your S10 blazer! It's a shame to see so many of those (even the ZR2 models!!!!) and XJs (many a lot cleaner than mine!) in the cfc program. That's a topic for another thread.
