Control Arm Question

Does anyone know if Jeep changed the control arm set up on the XJs after the 97 model year? I'm looking for upper control arm bushings for my 01 and really want to run polyurethane but energy suspension lists the kit (part# 2.3105G) as only fitting XJ's up till 97. Any other suggestions on bushings are welcome as well. Thanks!

Any specific reason you want to go to poly? Just be ready for a HARSH ride. The uppers in poly wear REALLY fast on our XJ's.

If you so wish to go to a poly bushing, ignore that info as the UCA bushings are all the same on the D30 axle end. In 1997 on the ZJ they went to a webbed bushing to help improve ride quality but besides that all D30 bushings are identical among all years.

If your talking about the bushing on the body end, those are also identical among years.

The part number for the entire kit for the 01 has the "older" bushing included. My assumption is that it's either a typo or they just don't have a clue what works. We've sold a ton of the entire kit to customers with the 97+ and never had any issues with the UCA bushing not fitting the axle.

Let us know if we can be of any further help.

I was looking to go poly because I had been told they would hold up better off-roading and that sand doesn't eat them up as bad. Apparently you have had different experience with this. Would you recommend sticking with the stock bushings? Or something non poly like the daystar bushings? My uppers are totally shot so they are in need of replacing.

Uppers on the axle end or uppers on the control arm where it mounts to the uni-body?

Both I believe, I can freely move one of my upper control arms with my hand while my jeep is parked.

I would purchase MOOG replacement bushings. They seem to be built a bit better than the factory one's are and they are a rubber bushing so you won't get the harsh ride.

This is what we use in our own rigs around the shop and we're not at all easy on bushings the way we wheel and they are holding up just fine.

Awesome thanks! You wouldn't happen to have a link/know where I could get my hands on a set relatively quickly would you?

I most of the time get all my orders from Motion Off Road the next day or the day after.
I need to look into these MOOG kit myself.
