Another problem with the XJ. Was backing out of the parking lot and jeep died put it in neutral and started back up and reversed and then put in drive and she died out again. Just like when you shut off the ignition. Checked fuel pressure when I got home and no problem there it was right at 49.5 psi. Could it be the crankshaft position sensor?
does it die if u have foot on brake while giving it gas(power brake with out tire spinning of course)? Possible IAC motor/valve-Idle Air Control. Is it setting a code(check engine light)?

A dirty throttle body blade will cause a stall too. Clean the dark ring around the edge with a cloth and some throttle body cleaner. I do mine about every two years or so.
It is not setting off any code. I will see if it stall when applying the brake and giving it gas. Seems to happen only when it cold. It seemed to stumble at a stoplight yesterday and as soon as gave her gas no problem. It was a slight stumble not a huge holy crap what is wrong moment. I will take the throttle body apart and clean and see if that clears it up too.
