One of my best buds asked me if I would be willing to make another light bar, one that would mount to his stock bumper. This is what I came up with. Its my first start to finish fab job done 100% by myself. Its defiantly not perfect, not even close. But it will look good and do its job in a sturdy fashion. Its a much better bar than the one on my XJ.
Materials: 50" of 1" square tubing 26" of flat stock
Tools: Angle Grinder Bench Grinder Hand Drill (Drill press would have been much better) Flux-Core Welder.
This was the first time I had used Flux-Core in our welder. I had only used MIG before. For some reason flux was so much easier for me to dial in and create a decent bead.
Yea it is, Andy. And like you told another member here; once you work on something yourself you get the confidence to do it again. Not a direct quote, and I think you were referring to a lift. The same lesson can be pulled from this though. I now can think of only METAL...I need more metal!
He has still got some bending, pushing, and pulling to make it level. Mine looked worse than his when I first put it on, but now it looks good. I am still happy with how it turned out. And for any critics, it will look better and more straight soon. These are pics he sent me today.
His lightbar is now straight and makes it look even better. Plus we just made a d ring mount for the front of his rig that will look awesome with two 3/4" d rings. I will post pics when I can find the camera.
