So driving home from Indy pulling a trailer with a load on it and the stupid thing started to smoke. This is the 2nd time it's done it, both times now with a trailer and a load. Pulling the trailer empty does nothing. Last time I thought it was my valve cover gasket leaking a bit and dropping down. Replaced that and never thought about it again. Well what do ya know, happened again.
I'm doing around 60, and when I let my foot off the gas (RPM's drop) it smokes for about 15 seconds. I'm 95% sure it's not coming out the exhaust. Stopped at a gas station and I've got oil on my tranny pan dripping, and hitting my downpipe and smoking. It's OIL, not TF. Looks like it's coming from where the block/tranny meet up. So I'm 90% it's the rear main.
My question is this. Why does it only happen when I'm pulling my freakn' trailer with weight on it? I can go out and wheel all day long, rev it out all day and it won't leak. Now yeah I'm not an expert, but makes sense that it's when it's under load. Is my oil pressure really THAT high with my stroker?
Sounds like a rear main to me, i wonder if maybe its not building to much crank case pressure and blowing the seal. Maybe worth looking into. Just a thought
