Better front recovery option...

I need a front recovery point. Which would be better?

Drawtite front receiver?

C 4X4 tow hooks?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of both?

I vote for the draw-tite. It mounts better than the tow hooks do, and it also goes from frame-rail to frame-rail, thus stiffing the front uni-body. With the draw-tite you also get the extra protection if your offroading (cheap skid somewhat).

They both are about the same for clearance issues. The draw-tite sits up higher than the Hidden Hitch does. www.etrailer.com has the best prices on the draw-tite.

Just my worth...

I have a Draw-tite for mine, like Adam said hitch is better cause they tie the frame rails together. Beside i like the idea of having a winch plate and being to move it to the front or the rear of my XJ. Hitch isnt much more then hooks, and hooks do bend.
