i'll sum it all up in a sentence... the nut pressed/welded into the frame (front end of the spring where the bolt goes through the bushing) broke off... not good... not good at all... any tips? i kind of have an idea of how i'm going to go about fixing this little problem, but if theres anything easier that doesnt involve a little cutting and re welding, it'd be greatly appreciated...

You probally broke the welded nut on the back side...
Is the head of the bolt out at all? If so you can just cut the head of the bolt off and go from there. If not than your best bet is to drill a hole in your floor, and put a wrench on the backside of it.
ok, so you have an issue that cannot really be fixed without some cutting! first use a die grinder to remove a samll triangle of material from the bottom side of bracket, careful to save piece. then use a wrench and do what needs done, when you are all finished either weld those back in or cut some slightly larger parts to fit over hole.
good luck

alright, yeah that's pretty much how it's going to be done... we started the slow process of removing the metal piece with the die grinder.. hopefully we can get a wrench up in there.. i got a friend who can weld me another piece of metal back into place, so yeah.. thanks for the replies guys :) it's been a real pain in the ass... at least the passenger side didnt hassle me as much... lol

haha! got it done... wow, the oem heavy duty replacement springs are tough as nails.. there's hardly any bounce over bumps from the rear now, and the rear looks like it has like a 2" lift.. haha the rear is a lot higher than the front now, it actually looks funny.

Did you only replace the rear leafs? The HD rear leaf units do net around a 2" lift. The HD units were used in the upcountry's (they came with about a 2" lift from the factory).
2 options; spend $100 on new front coils or spend $50-60 on 2" spacers. I'd recomend the coils. Check the vendor forum here and one of the vendors may be able to get you a good deal on either...
I can't even get the bolts to turn (front or rear bolts) on the leafs... when I did my AAL I just cut the 'straps' and added the leaf into the stack of smaller leafs, and reinstalled... drivers side is a b* since I didn't want to droop the axle all the way (with the shock removed) which would stretch the brake line... not good.
I dunno what to do when I get bored with the 2".
