Speedometer and bigger tires

Not yet... still working on that... but...

My wife and I were talking about that as we flipped through the new 4WD catalogs last night.  On new XJ ('92+) the speedometer is computerized and can be updated by plugging in a little converter that will automatically adjust for the new tires...

But mines a '91...  How would you go about changing your speedometer so it reads the correct speed on older models?

You change the speedo gear. It's a $10 part and very simple to do.

Ok, that makes sence. It was one of those things that stuck in my head last night.

Will ask more on how to do it once I need to know that.

Thanks Lead!

Just did mine last week.  Only takes a few min.  I had to do it a couple of times to get the new one to work but tweeking it and taking it apart 3-4 times and it works fine now.
