1980 cherokee 360 v8 auto. new to family. pulled distributor, bottom gear teeth wore. bought reman. distribotor rotor,cap. set timing.ran about 10mins. pretty good. quite. hot,battery dead, let sit. Tried to restart, run a second back fire through carb. recheck timing many times, 180 move dist, check wires,replace plugs, 2gals new gas. rotor doesn't seem to point at number 1 cyclinder wire. Move wires back one, to match with #1 wire. Have checked fire order, clock wize. looks to me i can only be off 180 both ways? All it will do is-----start a second, back fire throught carb?? getting gas. Maybe to much gas in engine. plugs look black alittle wet not bad. Let sit over night. plugs in. battery charger on. Will try tonight when i get home to start. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT TO CHECK OR DO???? LOST!!!
Cam gear went out. got small lite looked down dist hole, rotate engine. Teeth messed up on one side. couldn't see without rotating engine and lite. HI HO HI HO off to frt of engine with more tools.
