Recently purchased a 2001 Cherokee...all fluids have been maintained ,however has not had any electrical service done...ie wires/plugs on second battery...motor is running fine...no hesitation starts right up... last full tank I got ~16.7 mpg...
Should any tune up be done or just let it go....also any other preventive maintenance I should do
I'm not a fan of cleaner in the gas. The majority of the time it just causes more problems and it will tear up the internal o-ring's on your injectors.
Since yours is a 2000, you do not have a rotor. So just replace the plugs/wires w/new.
Also change out your air filter, and it wouldn't hurt to change your fuel filter as well.
yeah I didn't notice a distributor on first glance...and looks like the spark plug wires are tucked away in a rectangular bar...Will inspect them this weekend...
maybe older ones, which a y2k model probably is getting there...
I've seen o-rings soaked in straight acetone for a while and they come out fine with no swelling, rotting, or other adverse effects.
But older ones... I have the old distributor o-ring from my crappy 88 Camry I could soak in the stuff for the winter and uncover it sometime next spring thinking "what the hell" then remembering this thread. I ought to measure the old, rock hard, 20 year old o-ring with a mic first though to compare for size change.
