once my xj goes to hell (junkyard style) if it ever does, me and a few friends were thinking about building an off road buggy type thing... my question is, is there any type of hidden or commonly overlooked things if i were going the tube body/almost everything else route? i was pretty much thinking lose the body/unibody, and build a new frame and whatnot based off of the driveline and where everything bolts up to. after that, building a tube body, and moderately enclosed engine bay to our liking... we'd like to, for the most part keep the driveline my xj's got till it craps out on us, and i basically know how everythings set up and where stuff connects to... i was just wondering if this would be the way to go about it, or if there's any better ideas for this type of project out there that would make for less work?.. we can weld, paint, do whatever, and we're all pretty mechanically inclined, and just looking for something fun to do..

hell, in that case, it might be easier to transplant your drivetrain into a rolled Grand. Start off with the full frame, and cut/reinforce from there.....
