simple project tears me a new one... jeep style..

so i was under the jeep today, replacing the crossmember and tranny mount.... simple job right? wrong... i got around to it, and tried to loosen the bolts ever so carefully, and lo and behold every single bolt snaps on me.... every last freaking one... all 4 that hold the crossmember to the frame, all 4 that hold the mount to the x-member, and i'm seriously afraid to even try the last 2 holding the mount to the tranny... i'm extremely pissed right now... any suggestions on lowering my blood pressure, and fixing my dd?

well for the last two, use some PB Blaster and a small propane torch, heat the head of the bolt up real slowly until it gets cherry red, then take ur time and apply even pressure when you trying to undo the bolt

for the other ones that already snapped, try an "easy-out" or something along those lines to get the old bolts out

what he said, the middle crossmember bolts aren't as bad as the others since they're kinda hidden.

As far as the one's that mount to the frame, you are going to have to cut holes, or use a cutoff wheel ( my method) to get to the captive nuts that are welded to the frame. Knock them off with a air chisel, or hammer and punch then get new bolts and nuts.

middle bolts shouldn't be a problem, since you are replacing the mount. just be careful with the 2 that go into the T-case.
