Heres my problem...

I finally figured out why my XJ runs like complete SH1T.  The No.1 cylider exhaust valve lifter is collapsed/broken.  That vavle never opens. I have tried a can of seafoam in the oil as well as ATF and neither helped. So I guess I'm to the point of pulling the head and replacing the lifter(s). Any suggestions?  Anyone have some lifters? Anyone know a good place to get them?confused

Thanks

-Nick

I'm not 100% sure on how to check for good or bad ones, but if the 4.0 use roller lifters, you could use used ones from the junkyard (dirt cheap).

Or, you could swap the head out for a good boneyard one (find a wrecked XJ) or the 94 you have for sale.

I actually sold that '94 about a month ago, just forgot to update the sig. I believe the lifters are under the head, not a part of it. I'll tear into this weekend most likely. A single lifter is only about 5 bucks, but I'll have to figure in the cost of a new head gasket, etc,...

wouldnt be a bad idea on mystic's part to do that, and just swap it in, then rebuild the bad engine little by little and keep as a spare, and maybe sell that if someone needed it.
