Sweet. Didn't know certain vendors endorsed groups and such. How do I go about figuring out which vendors support?

I know that Motion Offroad can get you just about anything that you need.  You just have to shoot them an email and they will tell you whether or not they can get it for you.

I needed an alignment in spring of 07 and the guy there said the trackbar was shot, so I got a good heavy duty adjustable unit from jks www.jksmfg.com and I installed a 2" budget boost lift ($90 shipped from another Jeeper who sold his XJ before he installed them, so they were new) and had the trackbar adjusted (probably didn't need much, it's for 2-3.5" lifts) and I'm happy with it for now.

I can't wait for the stock size tires to get worn out so I can get some 31" BFG A/Tssmile (I might rub a little, but then I have an excuse for a 3" coil/leaf pack lift, and driveline vibes will give me an excuse for a SYEbiggrin). 3" is the most I'll lift it since its my DD and I tow sometimes with it and want to maintain excellent streetability while imporving it's offroad capability.

For a budget 3" use S10 or Dodge Dakota leafs out back, and V8 Grand Cherokee or F150 springs up front. These will probably be rough riding but if you don't mind, it's your Jeep. I dont' mind some bumps and stuff (it's a Jeep!) but I don't want my teeth rattled out.smile

I know of another Jeep website with all sorts of info on doing homemade lifts for cheap (using parts off other vehicles) so PM me if you want. As for skidplates- go to the local pick-your part and look under all the XJs and MJs, and there's armor that's easy on the wallet. Hope I helped.

When it comes to lifts you get what you pay for.

Sure you can but a "budget lift" together using a hodge-podge of parts, but I can promise you that if you do more than just drive it on the road you'll be replacing warn out parts in less than a year.

I'm now on my 3rd lift setup on my XJ. I really wish I would of spent the money on quality parts the 1st time around instead of replacing things like I have down the road. I've got way to much $$ into old parts that have done me no good. My advice is to spend the money upfront and go with a quality lift kit and only do it once. If you don't have the $$ upfront than save it when you can and get it later down the road.

I'm not knocking anyone for putting thier own lift together or whatnot, however I'm speaking from personal experience that I've delt with un-suppier parts and have replaced broken/failed parts and wish I would of just done it right the 1st time around.

I plan on doing this (what Adam said) with my 3" lift (when I get new tires).  For something that's going to be on the street much and see some trails, I want it to be done right.  If it were an old trail only/mudhole only beater, then I wouldn't care and would probably piece together some oddball mutt setup with S10 leafs and F150 coils.
