Okay before I go and start tearin into things I have a question. Actually here's the issue first: Heater use to work, lol - that I recall, and this fall / winter when I was messing around I noticed nothing - no fan. Is it a safe assumption the fan switch took a crap? Or something in the blower motor? Guess now my question is, is there an easy way to test one of these before buyin a new part? I have a volt tester (one with a light when you have power), but no meter or anything. From what I remember the motor sounded okay when it worked, but again there is 2xx,xxx miles on it too.

Go to WalMart and by an OHM meeter. They are about $10 and a must have addition to your tool box.
Now once you have the ohm meter, I'd pull the switch and test for resistance across the terminals in the different positions. You'll notice a difference in resistance when you go threw the different positions. If you get nothing than your switch is bad.
I'd start with the switch first, as it's MUCH easier to get to and replace than the motor itself.
Also to add, check your fuses first. Take the meeter and check for voltage across the fuse terminals to make sure you have power going to it to begin with...
thanks - I did find some "interesting stuff" when I got the plugs off. The clip going to the switch looks like it got a little hot at some time and partially melted, at least it appears like that. Here's a pic or two - not the greatest but it don't look right. It was very brittle too - besides getting one off a parts rig, can you buy this part of the plug from an auto store? Also I guess the more important question - what would have cause this?

Ohhhhhh yummy, Man looks like she got really hot or something, I'm Sure Lead Not Follow might have a better answer, But yha, The way the 1st picture look's, something might have not been hooked up right, Bad ground, its just ugly isnt it. Hopefully that is all it was. Good luck
So searched the salvage yards today - apparently this is a common problem cause everyone I looked at either was melted or already cut off. Found one finally at some salvage yard I never seen before but they wanted $25 just for the plug. So since its just my wheeling rig couldn't I just cut the plug and install individual connectors on the wires and hook it up that way? Still kind of wondeirng how this happend????

Well not sure where the power died yet - no power to my switch, and I am not looking foward to going down by the blower motor any time soon. I am debating about just putting in an aux heater - like a small 300 watt style since its just a wheeling rig anyways. Bidding on a couple on ebay so I'll see what happens.

The heater resistor - thats located on the passenger side under the glove box area correct? From what I've heard - just remove kickplate, stand on your head (almost literally) and access up there. Course I hear if the resistor is shot you normally have high speed as the fail safe - from what I looked into not many people loose all speeds due to a bad resistor. Course now that its getting warmer I have to work - imagine that - lol. Also from what I have learned in regards to those cheaper 12v aux heaters - they really aren't worth a darn. I have one that I haven't been outbid on yet so I may get one now wether I like it or not...
