I know there is a difference in the tailshaft on these transfer cases starting in '97 as they don't have the tailshaft "cone".  But other than that is a 242J TC the same on all Jeeps?  By that I mean would one from a Grand Cherokee would fit my '00 XJ? 

I've been watching a couple on ebay in case I have to replace mine.  I'd like to buy used, and rebuild it because if I buy new or rebuilt I will have to cut the rear output shaft off to mount my H&T flange and loose any warranty.

I'll know more after the Jeep dealer looks mine over on Thursday.
