No spark from Coil

1991 xj 4.0 auto
NO SPARK OUT OF COIL?
put new coil on, no spark to dist and checked to ground. NONE
cps looks brand new- unplug and replug- none

Am I missing a fuse check?
checked what wires i no of.
have power to coil when turned on-but no spark cranking.
 
And of course I don't want to pay, to have put on machine up front

My guess is the CPS. Have you tested it?

This morning ordered a cps, will be here around 5.

It took me about 45 minutes... long story short go to sears and get the 'bunch of extentions and swivels' kit for about $20 (don't worry, zillions of uses for them to come, they'll pay for themselves) and the longest one they have (I got a 2 foot long one) and by hooking them up somehow I was able to get to the cps without much trouble. It's under the driver side of the vehicle, at the front top of the transmission bellhousing.

Had a guy come down and put scranner on it. After 5 so couldn't get parts. He said its the stator in dist. so ordered stator and cps, will be here sometime after lunch. Pulled dist on bench, will install stator first and check for spark, than go from there. Don't no any real back groung on this thing. Bought it in Ohio last saturday, what a trip down and back with the weather. Have to get off my trailer running, with all this snow and bad weather we have been having. Unreal!!! Than saturday I have to go and pickup another one that I bought, that I found in junk yard with tow hooks. I'm done buying these things, I have to start putting them together. Thanks for your help. Will update. Ya I do have pics!!

It'd be nice to have a bunch of Jeeps, either operable or for parts.biggrin

Noon! Got it running and went around the block. Runs good.
It was that stator in the dist. List $106.45 my cost $ 72.39
I think the old one could be cleaned up and used again. Full of rust and what ever. Same with steel cover on top of it, rusted and not making contact. But had new one here and was only going to do once. Thanks to all. Will get some pics of the WOODY getto wagon!!! HI HO HI HO off to work I go!!
That makes 4 and one comming saturday. Enough getto wagons have to get something done. Wife 2 renegades.

Pick-up coil that sucks, still not sure if that's wrong with my ZJ or not yet..
