Need advice

Im going to go look at a 94 Grand Cherokee. The only thing the guy says is wrong is some type of brack that is on the front axle broke off he mentioned it had something to do with a spring not sure if he meant the suspension spring or not. He said it is still driveable but the one side of the car moves around when taking turns. Anyone know what this could be and if it could be simply fixed by welding it back on? It only has 109k on it and he says very little rust.

I cant quite figure out what he's talking about but if it were me, i would just weld it back on. I would look real close at it if youre going to drive it though....I knew of someone the drove around with a broken control arm. No clue as to how it got broken cause that Jeep never left pavement.

I picked the Jeep up today. I believe thats what it is a control arm. There are 2 arms that come off the axle and attach to the body of the car, One of them is busted off. Would this be able to be welded back on? Also is there any danger of the axle coming out from under the car with the one arm busted? It drives fine and doesnt pull or anything but when u hit the brakes it rattles from the arm hitting the axle. Anyone in the area got a welder and willing to help me weld this back on? Ill throw in a case of your favorite beverage, if anyone can help me out.

Where are you at? Is there a bracket loose, or did the control arm itself break? I would say that in order for the axle to come out you would have to break the other 3 controls arms, but breaking 1 more will ruin your day. I would recommend getting this fixed as soon as possible.

Yup, you guys wont believe what I stole this thing for. That bracket is the only thing wrong with it besides some small surface rust spots. It only has 109k on it, got it for 1400. Hope I can still play with you guys since this isnt exactly an XJ lol.

I personally wouldn't drive the Jeep very far with a LCA mount broken like that. Maybe a UCA, but defenitaly not a LCA!

You can purchase new mounts and just weld them on. It's a fairly common problem.

I'm also a ZJ owner, looking at the one pic you posted, was that thing parked in tall grass for a long time? My '94 don't look near as rusty. Also if the front is torn off, start looing at the rear upper mounts on the Unibody side, there normly the first of all CA mounts to tear off. Just so you no what else to inspect.

Also if you have any ZJ direct question you can always pm me I know the ZJ's real well...

Got it welded back on, we found out it happened because the previous owner hit something which caused the whole axle to shift and busted off the lower bracket. The Upper control arm was also bent and I replaced that also. And its really not that rusty, I think its just something to do with the lighting made it look worse than it is. When it warms up im gonna go to town on it with a wire wheel and por-15
