Hello all, recently purchased a 1998 Cherokee Limited 4x4 4.0L Auto. Its great to find communities such as this.
My problem is the jeep is sagging in the rear so I bought some Heavy Dudy Leaf springs from Quadratec. My question is, should I bother buying new shackles to go along with this, or would you expect the origionals to be fine?
I don't think that I have ever heard of anyone having problems using their old shackles. I know that I didn't. I would say save your money, unless you want to get bigger shackles for added height.

I miss the days that they made toys that could kill a kid.
I have a new main eye bushing and shackle end bushing... just wasn't sure about buying a whole new shackle as well or not. I'll probably just do it with what I have for now, and if it looks bad then I"ll buy a new one...
I would only worry about replacing the shackle its theres damage or excessive rust, which i would not expect for your case. I agree with the others, replace the bushings and call it a day. Unless youre looking for lift.

Let us know what you think of the leafs you purchased. I'm in a saggy situation myself and I'm curious if they will change the ride quality because they are "heavy duty."
Well I had them installed today (also new Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks in the rear). I have only driven it a few miles, but it is definitely improved over what it was before. I still need some work on the front, so its hard to judge the overall quality, but it does feel much better now.
The HD shocks did raise the rear up at least a little over the stock height (maybe 1-1.5in). I think that it will settle some in the coming weeks, but for now the rear is higher than it should in relation to the front (compared to stock). I may end up getting 1in spacers for front. I'll try to post some pictures in the next few days.

i actually just replaced mine a couple months ago with the heavy duty's... they dont settle down too much from what you get the second you drop it after it's done.. i have an extremely nice sized wheel gap now which i'm happy about :) they ride beautifully, nice and stiff, but not overkill. definitely worth every cent you pay for them.

Off topic, but FYI if you want 2" I used whatever leafs were on it (not saggy, but with 200k miles on the Jeep so maybe they were replaced at one time) with a rusty's 2" AAL and it has similar effects on the ride. Front uses stock springs and spacers. If I were to go any larger, I'd go for all new springs, all around, and appropriate damers (shocks) to go with them, extended brake lines, etc.
