Well i am getting the xj ready to be on the road as a dd. Went and took it for a drive yesterday around the block and everything was fine until i got back home. When i got out i noticed that the driver front wheel was smoking. Think that the caliper is holding the brake pads against the rotor. Do you guys think i would need to get new calipers or do you think something else is wrong? The pads and rotors both look good with no grooves or anything in the rotor.
Thanks, Ben

I had the same problem with the lines. However I would also change caliper. If its time to do brakes get new rotors and pads. DO NOT turn Rotors they are cheap to replace, I wasted my time and money turning my orginals.

Everything else seems just fine its just that the caliper is pushing on the pads and holding them against the rotor. Think i mite change the brake lines and see how that does.

Agreed. Same problem in mine. Also, the more it overheats on one side, the more the heat will damage whatever is there. Also, the hotter it gets, it will eventually start to boil the brake fluid down there, creating air bubbles and therefore decreasing most, if not all, stopping ability on that tire. I had it happen, so take it for what it's worth. Def. change the lines and make sure that the slide bolts (or whatever they're called) holding the caliper on are greased. If not greased well, the caliper might not be able to slide back into it's original place. I use white lithium grease on that.
