I knew it would happen

Well i think my xj has it out for me when i get ready to take it offroad. Drove it into work tonight and it was running a little over 210'. It wouldn't even really cool down going down the road. What are some things that i should change on it to help it to stay where it needs to be? I have even got the electric fan on a switch so i can turn it on when ever i want but it still doesn't keep it from going over 210'. Any ideas would help. Either way it is going wheeling this weekend if it likes it or not.

Ben

I would drain the radiator fluid and put new in.   Might help some.

When you are wheeling you could just pop the hood, might help get some cool air in there.  Not open it just pop the hood and leave it latched.  Don't forget to shut it before you go back on the road though....  haha.

Mite do that. Gona rig something up here at work tonight to lift the back of the hood up a little to see if it gets some of the hot air out of there. Just can't figure out why it won't stay right at 210.

The pet**** on my 91 was on the passenger side of the radiator. Mine broke off so i just disconnected my lower radiator hose.

If you are looking at the XJ it is on the passenger side right in front of the tire.  There is a little nozzle that you twist on the bottom corner of the radiator that lets the fluid out.  It gets messy.

That is where it is on a 99 might be different for yours depending on the year.  I don't know if it is different on pre 97 models

Ya think i mite change out the thermostat before this weekend. Shouldn't be that hard to change out. All i run for antifreeze is the 50/50 premixed stuff. Should i change that?

Do they break easily? You remember how much one was?

I don't remember how much they are.  But everything was fine and we went to tighten it down and it just felt into two parts.  I don't know quite how we broke it.  There was no pressure on it when it broke in two.
